Yes — the myenergi Eddi Solar Diverter & Immersion Controller uses a CT (current transformer) clamp sensor to detect surplus solar export and does not need to communicate with your inverter. It works with every inverter brand installed in Ireland — Huawei, Fronius, SolarEdge, Sungrow, SMA, Growatt, GoodWe and all others. There is no inverter compatibility concern; the diverter reads the electrical signal on your supply cable directly.
A solar diverter redirects surplus solar electricity — which would otherwise be exported at the CEG rate of €0.12–0.19/kWh — to your immersion heater. Since heating water electrically costs approximately €0.30–0.35/kWh from the grid, each unit of diverted solar effectively saves €0.30/kWh rather than earning €0.12–0.19/kWh on export. For a typical Irish home with a 4kWp solar system generating approximately 3,600 kWh/year, with around 1,200–1,800 kWh going to the immersion, annual hot water savings are €360–540.
