Key highlights
🎨
Award-winning Emura design
The Emura 3 has won multiple design awards — the curved white glass panel blends into modern Irish interiors rather than dominating the wall. Available in white, silver and matte black
🌡️
Heat and cool — one unit
Reverses the refrigerant cycle for cooling in summer. As Irish summers warm, this dual function is increasingly valued in apartments and open-plan living areas
📱
Full smart home ecosystem
Apple HomeKit, Alexa and Google Home natively supported — the only heat pump in this directory to support all three major smart home platforms simultaneously
Compatibility note: N/A — air-to-air heats and cools room air directly (no water circuit). A SEAI-registered heat pump installer will complete a heat loss assessment and radiator compatibility check before installation — this is required as part of the grant process.
✅ What we like
Heats and cools — one unit for winter heating and summer cooling
COP 4.97 for heating — very efficient room heating
21 dBA indoors — near-silent operation
Apple HomeKit + Alexa + Google Home native integration
Award-winning Emura design — discreet and stylish on any wall
~€2,500 installed — lowest installed cost of any heat pump in this directory
⚠️ Worth knowing
No Central Heating Upgrade component in the SEAI grant — air-to-air cannot heat hot water
Cannot connect to radiators or underfloor heating — heats room air only
Single-room heating — multiple units needed for whole-home coverage
Cannot replace a central heating system

🔋 Pair with battery storage — run your heat pump on solar
The most cost-effective way to run a heat pump in Ireland: pair with solar panels and a home battery. Solar generates free electricity during the day; the battery stores surplus for evening and overnight heat pump operation — reducing your annual electricity bill by 70–85%. Browse all batteries →
💰 SEAI Solar + Battery grant: The SEAI Solar PV Home Grant covers up to €1,800 for solar panel installation. Combined with the heat pump grant (up to €12,500) and the EV home charger grant (€300), the maximum SEAI support for a complete solar + heat pump + EV system is approximately €14,600.

☀️ Pair with solar panels — maximise your SEAI grants in Ireland
A heat pump and solar panels are the most powerful renewable combination available to Irish homeowners today. Your Daikin heat pump runs entirely on electricity — solar generates that electricity from your roof at zero cost. Both qualify for substantial SEAI grants. See the full Solar Panel Directory for all models available in Ireland.

💡 Apply BEFORE installation begins. Both the Heat Pump and Solar PV grants require a SEAI Letter of Offer before any contractor starts work. You can apply for both in the same process — ask your installer to coordinate a combined application. Also note: 9% VAT applies to heat pump supply and installation (reduced from 23% since 1 Jan 2025).
🌡️ Why a heat pump and solar are the perfect pair: A heat pump runs entirely on electricity — and a solar system generates free electricity from your roof. A typical 4kWp solar system generates ~3,400–3,800 kWh/year. Your Daikin Emura 3 3.5 kW uses ~3,000–5,000 kWh/year for heating and hot water. With both installed, your solar covers a large portion of your heat pump's electricity use — at zero cost. The combination is the highest-savings renewable upgrade available to Irish homeowners today.
🏠 Upgrade your whole home — starting with the air-to-air
The Emura 3 3.5 kW is an excellent first step — efficient room heating and cooling that reduces your reliance on oil or gas immediately. Most homeowners then add solar to power it for free.

A well-maintained Daikin heat pump should last 15–25 years, with the compressor unit typically lasting 15–20 years and the overall system potentially longer with component replacement as needed. Annual servicing by a qualified F-Gas / heat pump engineer is recommended to maintain efficiency and catch issues early. The 5-year warranty covers manufacturing defects. Annual degradation in SCOP is typically minimal in well-maintained systems — keeping your running costs stable over the full lifetime.
Not as a replacement for central heating — air-to-air units heat the air in one room directly and cannot connect to radiators or underfloor heating. However, many Irish homeowners install one or two air-to-air units to supplement an existing gas or oil heating system, reducing boiler use significantly. For apartments — particularly high-rise where drilling for refrigerant pipes through thick concrete is the only option — a single Emura 3 in the living area can handle the majority of the flat's heating load very efficiently.
The Central Heating Upgrade Grant (€2,000) specifically covers upgrading a wet central heating system — radiators and pipework. Air-to-air systems don't have a water circuit, so there is nothing to upgrade in the central heating system. The available SEAI grant for air-to-air is up to €7,500 (€3,500 base + €4,000 Renewable Heat Bonus for fossil fuel switchers) — still a meaningful contribution for a €2,500 installed unit.
